Many, understandably, find it hard to set time aside to write a blog but with a few simple tips and proper planning, it needn’t be a chore and that extra bit of effort will put you ahead of the competition.
Why blogging is so important for your business
Like the rest of you website, your blog is like your silent salesperson, working for you 24/7, even while you are sleeping. Blogging has a cumulative effect: the more blog posts you write, the more posts you have generating valuable leads and that will only increase over time.

We find that the best blogging platform to use is WordPress. As long as you install it on your own server, on the domain where your website resides, then each and every post will be an additional page added to your website.
All these extra pages, or rather posts, will be indexed by Google, increasing your chance of grabbing your share of targeted web traffic.
Of course, it’s not all about Google: there is lots of potential traffic to be had through social media. Each extra blog post is an extra page that can be shared through social media.
2. Writing a blog creates targeted content for your other advertising efforts
The great thing about a blog is that you can add unlimited content. It is not about making sure one person reads every single post in your blog and page of your website – it’s about creating a select few, or even just one page that answers that person’s specific questions or reservations and turns them into a customer.
So don’t water down each post to make sure it caters for everyone: do the opposite and really drill down to the specifics so that each might only be relevant to a few people.
Not only will these posts rank in Google for your specific keyword phrases, but they will also give you targeted landing pages for your Google Adwords, Facebook ads or other advertising efforts.

3. A blog sets you up as an authority
If you set out to use your blog to answer frequently asked questions (and less frequently asked ones too) then you set yourself up as an authority in the eyes of your reader. Someone who knows what they are talking about. Someone that can help them with whatever it is that they need.
Even if they are not after anything right now, if they repeatedly find the answers to their questions in your blog then they are more likely to contact you when they DO need something that you offer.
Setting yourself up as an authority in the eyes of your potential customers eases the way for the conversion process: you have already started paving the way to a sale.
So that, in a nutshell, is why blogging is so important for your business. Blogging is the ‘modern day’ SEO. Content is King: the more you write, the easier it is for people to find you and the more they trust you as an expert in your field.
